To Laundry Lane

Even on this short walk, from Chesterton to Laundry Lane, I discovered masses of litter and a fly-tipped sofa!

"Littering can also be referred to as a thoughtless action done by an individual who is more self-centered – doing only what is convenient for him/herself without regard for the people around him or the environment.”

Fly-Tipping

"We all have a legal ‘duty of care’ to ensure that we dispose of our household or business waste correctly. If it’s your waste, it’s your responsibility.”
Cambridge City Council (2021)

"For the 2019/20 year, local authorities in England dealt with just under 1 million (976,000) fly-tipping incidents, an increase of 2% from the 957,000 reported in 2018/19.”
Defra (2021)

"Animals cannot break down plastic in their digestive system and will usually die from the obstruction.”
Irving (2017)

The original faded Tulip design can still be seen on the pub that never was. The Tulip pub, built on the corner of Beche Road and River Lane in 1886, never actually opened as the owners of the nearby gasworks objected.
