We did have to overcome a number of obstacles included removing years of soaked in oil from the engine parts. And find a way to weld hardened steel and dissimilar metals – for this we had to purchase specialist welding rods and use advanced techniques, such as preheating, to overcome brittle fracture.

Please note the glass top is recycled and not pristine however we can supply a glass top of your choice – please contact us to discuss options and cost.

I am so please with this sculpture as the finished work is exactly what I had in mind when I looked at my pile of scrap metal. And I had so much creating this sculpture – it is very tongue in cheek and is based on the weird and wonderful creatures that can be found in the deep parts of the oceans and that so fascinated me as a child.

For the paint finish, I used a range of car paints and many coats of lacquer.

This metal sculpture is created from reclaimed found objects. The legs and feet are cut from an old plough, the hips and pelvis are parts from a old van and a tow bar. The base is a an old iron weight, from a weight lifting set, salvaged from knee deep mud and took a lot of cleaning to get through years of rust. It was fun welding as I had to heat the iron first then butter weld with specialist arc rods before I could attach the foot and leg.

The weight is has the words ‘Body Sculpture’ as part of the casting which I used for the title of the sculpture. constructed from found objects. This was one of the very first metal sculptures I constructed.

I have finally completed a new metal sculpture from all the scrap metal and car parts I have been collecting and recycling. It is titled ‘Les Liens Familiaux’, it stands about 6ft high and is fabricated from metal tubing that I bent and welded and scrap engine and car parts. Many of the parts move and the family members can be positioned in many different directions. Moreover, depending on whether the figures are facing inwards or outwards the sculpture takes on a very different meaning…
