Circadian – Glass Table

By Ashley, 07/08/2010 1:18 pm

Below a series of photos featuring a new glass table, titled Circadian, designed and built by Ashwinstudio.

We did have to overcome a number of obstacles included removing years of soaked in oil from the engine parts. And find a way to weld hardened steel and dissimilar metals – for this we had to purchase specialist welding rods and use advanced techniques, such as preheating, to overcome brittle fracture.

Please note the glass top is recycled and not pristine however we can supply a glass top of your choice – please contact us to discuss options and cost.

Contemporary Metal Table

By Ashley, 03/23/2010 12:12 pm

This contemporary metal table is created from scrap roll cages and French boules. The painted top, which I treated as I would a painting, was created from grinding into the metal and applying successive layers of car spray paint, to preserve this finish I have used a clear metal sealer and lacquer.

Collaboration with Loukas Morley

By Ashley, 12/21/2009 4:26 pm

Recently I have been collaborating with Artist and Designer Loukas Morley. It has so far worked out really well, I have fabricated a base  for one of his tables and  he is creating a wooden top (created from recycled draws) for one of my designs. Both Loukas and I believe in recycling materials.

Below is the Loukas Morley table sitting on the frame I fabricated:

And below is more tables designed by Loukas Morley:
