Here is a new photo of the V-Bench designed by Ashwinstudio in collaberation with artist artist Loukas Morley. Created from reclaimed girder off-cuts and discarded mahogany draw runners.

Contemporary Metal Table

This contemporary metal table is created from scrap roll cages and French boules. The painted top, which I treated as I would a painting, was created from grinding into the metal and applying successive layers of car spray paint, to preserve this finish I have used a clear metal sealer and lacquer.

New Sculptural Bench

Finally managed to finish the V-Bench which we have been working on, on and off, for some months. Have to contend with a number of problems from eco glue not sticking and welds getting too hot and metal bending. However, I think the final product is well worth the wait. It is created from metal girder offcuts that have been welded to gether to form the ‘V’. The bespoke top is made from recycled mahogany draw runners by artist Loukas Morley.

Collaboration with Loukas Morley

Recently I have been collaborating with Artist and Designer Loukas Morley. It has so far worked out really well, I have fabricated a base for one of his tables and he is creating a wooden top (created from recycled draws) for one of my designs. Both Loukas and I believe in recycling materials.

Contemporary Furniture – Boule Chair

I reclaimed the metal tubing from scrap roll cages, then selected and cut sections I liked the shape of and added additional bends to get the flowing organic shape I was after. Also, as I cleaned the tubing up I really liked the polish and grind marks so continued it across the entire chair and to preserve this finish I have used a clear metal sealer and lacquer. The metal balls welded on the feet and arms are from a second hand French boule set (otherwise known as pétanque).

I’m really pleased with this and already have had a lot of interest in the chair. I am already constructing two side tables in a similar style and hopefully more chairs – but each one will be unique!
